Information on Seattle WA?

My husband and I are taking the Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle next week and I need some info. First off, I need some hotel suggestions. We are going to be there for about 36 hours, so what are some must see/must do activities for that short time? Also we need some info on restaurants. Is the Amtrak station close to any good hotels? ANY help or recommendations will be GREATLY appreciated!Information on Seattle WA?
There are lots of great hotels near the Amtrak station, but not necessarily within walking distance. The Amtrak station is on Jackson St. just across the parking lot from Qwest Field, home of the Seahawks. It gets a little industrial near there, but if you travel a couple of blocks west to the King Street Station/4th Ave. and take the light rail or bus, a five minute ride to the north will take you to downtown Seattle where you will find lots of nice hotels. If you want a nice, quiet, romantic stay, try Hotel Vintage Park on 5th Ave. and Spring Street. It's about a 30 minute walk from the station (not recommended after dark) but a short hop on public transport or taxi. Check out TripAdvisor.com for great hotel information. Of course, while in Seattle, don't miss Pike Place Market. It is a great open air public market with gift and souvenir shopping, fantastic local food, and you can step out behind the market to get a gorgeous view of Puget Sound. Matt's at the Market is a great place to eat just across the street from Pike Place, and Lowell's in the market is also terrific. I can't recommend 13 Coins enough, either. They have an expansive 24 hour menu, and the food is great. You can also catch a ferry from the terminal near downtown and cruise Puget Sound for an afternoon. All of the locations have websites for further information, and if you look up the Seattle Amtrak station on the Amtrak website, they have a great map of the city. For public transport, check out the Sound Transit. The light rail and buses run very regularly, and there is a zone within the city where after you purchase a ticket (about 2.50) you can ride free for the rest of the day. Trains, buses, and stations are very clean, and safe to ride.

Also, try the Silver Cloud Hotel Stadium. It is one of the better ones closes to the Amtrak station. They are a little out of the way from the activities offered by being the city, but they do have a free shuttle service to nearby areas.Information on Seattle WA?
