Anyway, me being a typical American, I'd like to know what good places there are to visit, mainly for food. My friend is making the plans of sites to see but I want to know what food to eat. Chicago is known for their deep dish pizza. I'm assuming there are a bunch of Mom and Pop restaurants as well. I'd love to visit Mom and Pop stores since there aren't that many where I am.
What other good places to eat? I'm always hungry for more fattening and unhealthy American cuisine!Me and my friend are going to Chicago next week. Where to visit for food?
Mr. X knows what he is talking about. An Italian beef with cheese and sweet peppers from Portillos is really good. There are a bunch of good hot dog places around the city. There are a few good pizza places: Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, and Giordano's are the popular ones.
This site will have everything for you: http://chicagorestaurants.com/
you definitely have to eat at Portillo's http://www.portillos.com/portillos/ they're everywhere in the chicagoland area.
try their italian beef with peppers, dipped(in the gravy) and their hot dogs and chocolate cake is good too.
my favorite thing to get is the italian beefMe and my friend are going to Chicago next week. Where to visit for food?
Yeah, there are no northeast suburbs of Chicago. I live in the north suburbs.
But for pizza I recommend Giordano's. It's a chain around here, but it's my favorite. Lou Malnati's is also good for deep dish pizza.
Try Pizzeria Uno, near north area. Also, for breakfast, Lou Mitchell's,
on Jackson, about 400 west. Also, go to Roosevelt and Union Ave. and get a Maxwell St. Polish, Chicago style
hot dog, or a pork chop sandwich.
I've heard there's a sushi place close to Michigan Avenue that's supposedly really good. Don't really know the name...sorry!
YOUR CLUELESS CHICAGO DOES NOT HAVE ONLY ONE SUBERB AND IF YOU WANT FOOD GO TO MCDONALDS!
3 problems with your assumption:
August is the height of tourism in Chicago
Chicago schools start classes on 9/9/09
There is no Northeast part of Chicago unless you're staying on a yacht on the lake
Maybe you're staying north, near Michigan Ave.
You're right about deep dish pizza. A%26gt;H on the site below gives addresses and websites of the deep dish places near Michigan Ave. My favorite is A, where the recipe began. The others are great examples too:

Chicago is recognized for it's fine food restaurants. There are no real mom %26amp; pop restaurants downtown, but one that's close has cajun recipes and down home atmosphere:
