Will be in Chicago next week with my wife and a nanny (sister in-law) for our child. It's out 5th anniversary and we haven't gone out in forever. Any restaurant's you guys recommend? Our hotel is on W. Illinois. Thanks. One more Chicago question?
Here are some of my favorites:
- Signature Room 95th floor of the Hancock, pricey but worth the view and food. Not far from the W either.
- Another Great view is Spiggia, it's on the west side of Michigan and situated to where you get a great shot of the lake. I've only been there once for a wedding reception, very nice.
- Never been, but Nick's Fish Market at the base of the Chase Tower gets rave reviews from people I know who have been there. That's in the loop and a little south of the W so if you're dressed up and don't want to walk in heels you'll want to cab it there or figure out the buses.
- If you're a little more budget conscious, Berghoff's on Adams has repoened (so I'm told - haven't been there to verify myself) but that is really good food in Chicago's oldest restaurant complete with 1893 World's Fair Murals in between the exquisite Walnut paneling.
- Pump Room is another Chicago Institution that you don't hear about as much as in the past.
- Shaw's Crab House is excellent Seafood and another Chicago tradition. West of Michigan.
If I have to pick one it would be the Signature Room, handsdown. But it is easily $50/person minimum, more if you buy alcohol.
You can find several great restaurants while in Chicago. For an anniversary celebration walk north on Michigan Blvd to the Hancock Bldg and go up to the Signature Room for good food, candle light, jazz and one of the best view restaurant views in the world:

theres a Mortons Steak house near, where your staying. But it pretty expensive if your on a budget. Ruth Chris is another favorite place of mine to eat at.
