I'm going to be in Chicago for a day next week and i'd like to go explore. I'd really like to visit the tourist spots and see some nice architecture. Some nice restaurants? Maybe see a play. What are some good things that Chicago has to offer for tourist? What are some nice spots to visit in Chicago?
If you're into architecture, call the Chicago Architecture Foundation and see what tours they are doing (their boat tour is the best, but I imagine it's not running this time of year). The Hancock Tower has better views than the WIllis (formerly Sears) Tower. My favorite museums are the Art Institute and the Field Museum. Both are near downtown. The Chicago Cultural Center, near the Art Institute, is worth looking at architecturally, especially the Tiffany glass dome. Robie house by Frank Lloyd Wright is nice but a little ways from the downtown.
The poster above also has some good suggestions.
The Chicago Reader usually has good recommendations for theater, concerts and the like.
As for restaurants, there are all kinds of ethnic places that are excellent. What kind of food do you like? Lou Malnati's has good Chicago-style pizza. What are some nice spots to visit in Chicago?
Millennium Park, Navy Pier, Sears or Hanock tower observatory's, Michigan Avenue, Lincoln Park zoo, State Street Macys, many great museums, etc
