In NY next week and going to see Chicago on Broadway at 8pm on a Friday evening. How early do I need to be there to get in and seated in comfortable time(wondering what time I need to be getting out of a restaurant to get there in time)?
Also going to see the Rangers at the Garden on another night. Same question for that night as well.
CheersHow early should I arrive at a show on Broadway and a hockey game at Madison Sq Garden?
In general, about 10 or 15 minutes before both. Theaters generally open between 45 minute to 30 minutes before the curtain goes up. There is usually a line so unless you enjoy standing online, there is no reason to get there that early. Keep in mind while it's acceptable to early, later comers are seated at the digression of the theater. If you're going to a restaurant before the theater, 5:30 or 6 pm is a good time to go for an 8pm show, you'll have enough time to eat without being rushed. You didn't say which restaurant you're dining in so it's impossible to let you know what time to leave.
Sporting events such as seeing the Rangers are much loser - again there is no real need to arrive super early but you may want to allow 15 - 20 minutes if you want to stand in line for snacks and drinks.
Enjoy both your activities!
