Also where can I go for the absolute best pizza in Chicago?I'm going to be in Chicago next week. Can anyone give suggestions on really good restaurants?
For the answer to both questions, I'd check out Time Out Chicago magazine. They have a really good listing of restaruants with pretty good descritions. and they recently had a series on the best pizza in Chicago. It's hard to get one answer on the best pizza because there are so many styles: think crust, thick, pan, wood over pizza, etc. Decided for yourself. And as far as restaurant, the same rule applies. Not knowing what kind of food you like, it's hard to tell you the really good restaurants. There are about 5 gazillion here serving all kinds of food.
For prime steaks, try Smith %26amp; Wollensky, 318 N State St
Chicago, IL 60611 - Phone: (312) 670-9900
My favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza place is Pizzeria Due, 619 N Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL 60611-2713

ditto Smith %26amp; Wollensky but Chicago Chop House is my favorite. http://www.chicagochophouse.com/home.htm
Try Falco's for pizza (they have 4 locations) http://falcospizzeria.com/.
Catch 35 on Wacker Dr is great for seafood. Shaw's is good also.
Giordano's definitely has the best pizza in Chicago. They have multiple locations in the area, too.
Gino's East is a close second. Get get fooled into going to Pizzeria Uno/Due -- they're quite overrated.
Alinea has been voted the best restaurant in the country, so if you can shell out the dollars for dinner there, do it. If you don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on dinner, try Tango Sur (on Southport) for a truly amazing steak under $50.
I like Lou Malnati's for pizza. Giordano's is okay, too.
