Where is a good restaurant to take a family to when visiting Chicago? (not expensive)?

We're visiting chicago next week and we will be going to the Shedd, I'm looking for a good restaurant that's not over priced to take the family to. Also do you have any parking ideas? (We will be parking near the shedd)Where is a good restaurant to take a family to when visiting Chicago? (not expensive)?
If you're looking for a good restaurant near the Shedd Aquarium, I'd recommend Eleven, a deli/restaurant in the south loop at 1112 S. Wabash, not far from the Shedd Aquarium. They have valet, or you could take a bus from the Shedd Aquarium along Solidarity Drive to Roosevelt Street (the 146 bus, I believe.)

The Shedd is kind of out of the way in terms of restaurants--there's really nothing appropriate that you could, say, walk to from there. You can, however, catch a bus or a cab from there to any numer of great restaurants.

Both of these places are good for families, and the food is yummy:

For Chicago deep-dish pizza, Gino's East (on Ontario)

For other Italian, Maggiano's (huge portions, relatively small prices)
What about somewhere like Rainforest Cafe? Its downtown but I am not sure what streets.. Its going to be kinda far to walk from the Shedd to any resturant
If you're bringing the whole family, I'd try Buca de Beppo on Rush and Grand Ave. Granted it's a little far away from the Shedd, but not that hard to get to. Just take Lake Shore Drive north to the Navy Pier exit, go west on Grant Street to Rush Street.

Buca de Beppo is good for families because it's a place where the whole family can be loud and have a good time. it's got a corny Italian decor that's meant to be over the top. But the food is where the bargain comes it. Most of the dishes you order are HUGE so that something meant for one person is actually enough for two or maybe three. For instance the bruchetta (sp?) for two can actually feed four. The pizzas can feed a small town. There's canned Italian music, lots of photos of Frankie and Dino and even the Pope. You might even be able to get the special pope room for the family if you call ahead. The size of the food and the fact you can easily share makes it a good bargain.

Oh, and as far as parking near the Shedd, be careful. Most of the spot on the street have meters and you have to feed them or you get a ticket or towed. and the parking garage charges and arm and a leg by the hour. you can maybe park pn the street that leads to the Adler Planetarium, but as I said, you have to be sure to feed the meter. And if you're going on the weekend, you might not be able to find a spot.
Try Ed Debevic's. You will love it.

I would take the kids to the Rock n Roll McDonalds.
Try Portilllo's. Great food, nice environment, great prices, yummy! Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, ribs, chicken desserts such as a fabulous chocolate cake and strawberry short cake,Big menu, order and sit down, across from Rock and Roll McDonald's. You won't be disappointed.
The Rock n Roll McDonalds. Also Ed Debevics. You can't go wrong with deep dish pizza either.
Check out Ed Debevik's (sp??)....fun place. Diner style food with singing and dancing waiters / waitresses. Kids love it and so do the older folks! Reasonably priced. Its a Chicago landmark! If you want something more commercial you could do Hard Rock Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, Cheesecake factory. I would recommend for parking pick a place and leave it there all day....they have a free trolley that you can catch all around the downtown area that will take you from the Shedd area to north Michigan Ave, Old Navy Pier.....regardless of where you park (unless you get there by 8:30 - 9am) expect to pay $30+ for the day.
