Visiting Chicago; suggestions please?!?

Hello, I'll be traveling to Chicago in the first week of September and was hoping to get some suggestions on....

-Nice but reasonably priced hotels in the downtown area...

-Must see attractions

-Great restaurants (best pizza spot?)

-Nightclubs/lounges/bars

-Must see neighborhoods

-Best form of transportation

Also I was wondering if Chicago has a pioneer village type area... kind of like old town, where you feel like you have taken a step back in time.

Any other recommendations would be appreciated!

This is the best website I can find. It has all the attractions listed along with other great places to go to. I recommend going to Navy Pier. It has something for everyone, from amusement park rides to its own shopping mall. I hope this is helpful.

i Absolutely love chicago!

here are some attractions that are cool to see

-Navy Pier

-The Bean

-Wrigley Field

-You can actually see Cellular Field going into Chicago (if you are driving)

-Sears Tower...or Willis Tower if you call it that.

The best pizza place there would have to be Giordano's or Phil's pizza

The train is really cool to take in Chicago.

Also there is an area in dowtown Chicago where you can go to:

-The Shed Aquariam

-The Museum of Science and Industry...sounds boring but it is AMAZING!

Hope this helped and have a good time!!! :))Visiting Chicago; suggestions please?!?
1st. Good luck finding a reasonably priced hotel in downtown. The Red Roof Inn on Ontario is a great location but over $120 at least.

Best steakhouse I have ever been to is Gibsons.

Go to Wrigleyville to see what Chicago is all about.

Go see a Cubs game.

Go to Navy Pier

Take the train!
Any %26amp; everywhere in Chicago is great history %26amp; old school feeling

Not super cheap but cheaper than NYC, %26amp; better in my opinion :)

Try going to the navy pier also.
Skydeck Chicago

The tallest building in the Western Hemisphere beckons with its eye-popping views of Chicago and beyond. Located atop the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), Skydeck Chicago attracts nearly 1.3 million visitors each year to its 103rd floor observation deck, which rises 1,353 feet (412.4 meters) above street level. On a clear day, you can spot many of Chicago鈥檚 landmarks and scan the horizon to Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois. The brave of heart can step out onto The Ledge, a glass-enclosed balcony, for a view unlike any other.

John Hancock Observatory

Located in the heart of the Windy City鈥檚 tourist district, the John Hancock Observatory 鈥?with its one-of-a-kind open-air Skywalk 鈥?is open until 11 p.m. daily. The fastest elevators in North America zoom to the 94th floor 鈥?1,000 feet (305 meters) up 鈥?in only 40 seconds. The real fun is spotting Chicago landmarks, such as Wrigley Field, Navy Pier, and glamorous marinas. Guests enjoy a multimedia Sky Tour and can contemplate Chicago鈥檚 history on the 80-foot (24 meters) history wall. CityPASS holders can take in the view while sipping a complimentary coffee from the on-site caf茅.

Museum of Science and Industry

The largest science center in the Western Hemisphere, the Museum of Science and Industry was the first museum in North America to offer visitors the chance to touch and interact with exhibits. That tradition continues to this day with exhibits that encourage people to do more than spectate: you can make a giant heart beat in time to your own, open a Chicago River drawbridge for a model train, and practice your moves on the basketball court with the help of a virtual instructor.
There are actually some good prices for nice places downtown in September on Travelzoo. Not sure if the deals are still going on but you should check it out! http://www.travelzoo.com/hotels/chicago/

As others have said the train is the best way to travel, but the CTA works to get around as well.

Restaurants to check out

- Hot Chocolate for dessert. They're AMAZING! But plan on having a wait if you get there after normal dinner times like after 7.

- Grand Luxe Cafe - Great food, not terrible prices, and amazing view of Michigan Ave if you get a window seat. If you go in and the lobby's totally packed make sure to ask about the wait time because it's usually not nearly as bad there as it will be in other places

- If you like tapas then check out Cafe Iberico. It's a great atmosphere, nice and laidback, and they have amazing dishes!

If you can get tickets to a Cubs or White Sox game that's always fun. Especially if you're not a fan of either of them cuz you don't care who wins! :-)

My fav pizza joint is Gino's pizza or Lou Malnati's. Not sure to be honest whether Lou's has a location downtown.
