On another note, can anyone recommend a great, affordable pasta place in the same area?
Thanks a lot! What is an Italian restaurant near Hancock Building in Chicago? ?
Carmines, it's the best Italian restaurant in Chicago.
The best Italian sausage and meatballs you've ever had!
It's right near the corner of Division and Rush.
1) Spiaggia (980 N. Michigan) is super-pricey and close to the John Hancock Building (875 N. Michigan). You could go up to the Signature Room on the 96th floor for "the view".

it's definitely a "locals" kind of place. the menu is always changing, so it's written up on a large on the chalkboard - not the same as holding a menu in your hands, but at least you know everything you're getting is as fresh as possible. the lemon chicken is easily in the top five chicken dishes in the city.
I agree with Katie. You probably ate on Rush Street near Bellevue. There is a small "park" across the street.

If you want affordable in the area try Coco Pazzo Cafe or Volare. These will have a little different vibe than the Gold Coast.
