Well either splurge and stay at The Drake or Omni.. if you dont wanna splurge try the Best Western Grant Park, The Seneca or Hampton Inn.
Restaurants.... Gene and Georgettis...Maggianos.. lots of steak places like Gibsons and Smith n' Wollensky.

The Inn of Chicago is in a good spot (close to Michicago Ave) and resonably priced.
four seasons is very classy and divine. i met a banker from switzerland staying there. art on the walls, gold tables, fine dining. this is more then a few hundred, though. go here if you're trying to impress someone. if you want decent cheap, go to the suburbs, just outside the city. beautiful ones on lake shore drive, overlooking the city night life and the relaxing beach you can go to the lobby and walk onto across the street. this is if you are willing to spend a pretty good buck.
