Places around Virginia?

Hello All,

My mother has come to the US and we live in Virginia. I took her around to all the places in Virginia (Luray Caverns, VA beach, cheaspeake bay, James river.... ) and also visited Washington DC. Where else can I take her? Anything within a 3-4 hr drive that is a landmark or an important place. Please please let me know.Places around Virginia?
Jamestown - Its pretty inexpensive. Home of Pocahatas and The early settlers

( If you saw the movie " The New World" it all took place in this area.

If not, watch it after you go there. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402399/)

Williamsburg. - Its a coloniel city recreated for tourists to re-live the life in the beginning of the USA.

Well, Luray Caverns is at the top of the Shenandoah forest, which is very beautiful and also historic.

Charlottesville is a very nice little town with something for everyone. Thomas Jefferson's home, and the site of the University of Virginia which he founded. There's a downtown area which is pedestrian only, no cars.

And the historic town of Williamsburg is on the way to VA beach. Richmond is a little bit north of there. If you want to see a historic settlement but want to avoid the crowds and prices of Williamsburg, check out Jamestown right nearby. That was actually the first permanent settlement in Virginia.
