Question About Carnival Cruise?

I will be going on Carnival Valor 7-night Caribbean cruise in Aug. This will be my second cruise, my first being on Freedom of the Seas. I have heard that Carnival can have a cheap, party atmosphere and passengers tend to get drunk and be rowdy. Is this...

a. True

b. Only on those supercheap 3-night cruises during Spring Break

c. Not true anymore, the ship atmosphere and passengers are about on par with Royal Caribbean now.

(I loved RCCL, so hopefully they are about the same!)Question About Carnival Cruise?
Over the last 5 years or so, Carnival has really cleaned-up its act. It still promotes a party atmosphere but in a better way. They are not "in your face" and pushy like 10 years ago. I don't know anything about the spring break cruises.
Carnival did have a reputation in the early 90's as a party line..the company has been working very hard on changing that image..and are making progress

The seven night voyages tend to be tamer than the weekend party cruises.. with that being said it is a totally different experience than that of RCI.

Don't get me wrong both are excellent products they are just different in design and concept.

I give the nod to Carnival on food and service and RCI on activity and design..Question About Carnival Cruise?
I have been on both RCCL and Carnival and saw no difference in rowdiness or drunkenness. I didn't think either cruise line had a problem with either, although a very small few were drunk on both.

Answer C.

I think you may be a little disappointed with the ship itself when compared to Freedom of the seas though. My opinion is RCCL has the best ships, but I would also go on Carnival, depending on the cost, ports of call, and ship.
I went on a 7-day trip to the Carribean on the Carnival Valor two years ago in August. So I went on the EXACT same cruise as you.

Of course there are drunk people... it would be a lie if you told me there were no drunk people on the Freedom of the Seas.

There is no party atmosphere where there are drunk people running around.

The ship is a kid-friendly ship so they would NEVER let drunk people or people who are getting out of hand ruin your trip.

If you have kids stay out of the club/casino area at night.

If you don't have kids... just don't get involved in an area where you see "rowdy" people.

You will probably only have two days at sea if I remember right... so try not to worry about it.

You will have fun:)
I cruise Carnival exclusively and have only been on three cruises, and I've only seen one out of line drunk. Carnival encourages people to drink, but everyone has been well behaved with it. After all your on vacation, and it is called the fun ship.
It's really only true for the cheap 3 night cruises, and even then, the partying is pretty subdued. The same can be said for the cheap three night Royal Carribeans and NCL's, too.
Carnival is a party ship but not as bad as it used to be! Yes some ppl will be drunk on both. CArnival is cheaper
