Little Italy has some nice shops and places to eat.
Really? Little Italy? I love Italian food but that's the worst place to go to. Try Saint Charles, it has a beautiful fox river and it's not filled with blacks like mostly evreywhere else in Illinois. There are hudge houses and it's..as I would say.. rich town. Not low life...at all.

Other places than Downtown Chicago ?Basically you have the Loop, to the south is Near Southside(South Loop %26amp; Printers Row), to the west is Near Westside( Greektown %26amp; West Loop), north of the river is the Near Northside(Streeterville, Michigan Ave, Rush Street and the Gold Coast). The Old Town neighborhood might interest you, it located to the west of the Gold Coast neighborhood by 2 or 3 blocks. Start at Wells St. and Division St. and head north on Wells St, that will take you into the heart of Old Town. Further North is the Lincoln Park neighborhood, you will need to check this neighborhood throughly for something which will interest you. Of course the neighborhoods just continue on towards the north from there. Here are a couple of websites which might help you, explorechicago.org, choosechicago.com, chicago.com
If all else fails go to the Chicago Public Library at State Street and Congress Parkway and have the Lady there retrieve some Chicago travel guide books for you and maybe they will have info which will help you. Otherwise, go to a good size bookstore and they should carry 5 or 6 different Chicago guide books.
for shopping and stuff : wood field mall, Lincoln wood
Food places you have to eat at!!!!! : Giordano's pizza, lou mantis pizza, kuma's corner, margie's candy

How far out do you want to go? Woodfield shopping mall is very good, and huge. It is in Schaumburg, IL. You can get to it off of Rt. 90.
Medieval Times is in that area too.
Brookfield Zoo is just a little outside of Chicago.
As far as shopping goes you should be able to find anything you could possibly want in the city and suburbs. Exactly what will you be shopping for? Someone will be able to answer your question.
